Wealthy

A close-up picture of a person putting a wedding ring on another person's hand.

Written by Xienna Yepez, a CSUCI Service Learning student in Fall of 2020.

I’m a wealthy girl

Living in a spoiled world

Who’d pay anything

To wear your promise ring.

I miss your ribboned gifts

Sealed with a special kiss

And it’s funny, because all the money

Couldn’t buy it in a store.

I bought a diamond pool

To collect the tears you stole,

Sometimes I swim in it

Because memories of us still live in it.

You were my perfect gem

Til you said, “Let’s just be friends.”

Love’s worth its weight in gold

But your love just can’t be sold.

This time it cost too much

To say goodbye to your touch

Suddenly I’m not rich enough

To afford your pricey love.
